About worship

Our Sunday morning worship involves many facets, all with the main focus of offering ourselves in worship to God.

  • We sing songs of praise, dedication and testimony to God, about God and what he has done in Jesus Christ.

  • We center ourselves in God’s Word as we read Scripture together.

  • We pray together, lifting to God our concerns.

  • We listen and respond to a message that God has placed on the heart of the pastor or other speaker. This message is based on God’s Word.

  • We also give to God our tithes and offerings in grateful recognition of God’s faithfulness to us and His ownership of all things.

Baptismal Services

We practice believer’s baptism at South Meridian. This means that we perform baptism for those who are old enough to have made their own, personal commitment to Jesus Christ. If you have a relationship with Jesus and have not yet been baptized, we encourage you to do so. Baptismal services are scheduled periodically as a part of our regular worship services. If you are interested in being baptized or have questions concerning baptism, please contact the church office at (765) 643-6695.

Communion

Communion is a powerful practice in which we re-enact both the very special meal that Jesus had with his disciples just before he died on the cross and the many meals he shared with all—disciples, friends, and outcasts. Jesus was greatly criticized because of his association with all kinds of people. When we partake in communion we remember his death for us on the cross and his great mercy and love for those who are lost. We share in communion as a church body once a month. During communion we share the bread and the cup which represent Jesus' body and his blood. We invite all who call Jesus Lord to participate.

Opportunities for Participation

worship & tech team

There are many ways to serve, including singing, playing an instrument, reading Scripture, running sound or lights, running the Sunday morning slide presentations and decorating the sanctuary. Perhaps you have another worship related gift that is not one of these. David would love to speak to you about your gifts and/or interests.
